Finlandia falls to Tigers

HANCOCK — Three players scored in double figures as the Finlandia University men’s basketball team (3-14) lost 97-75 to Grace Christian (10-10), Saturday afternoon at the Paavo Nurmi Center.

Grace Christian came out quick getting to an 11-2 lead at the 16:43 mark. Finlandia fought back and cut it to four points, four times.

The Tigers would lead by at least 10 points the last ten minutes. In the second half, the Lions began to chip away.

Junior Octavius Johnson hit two free throws to make it 51-44. GCU scored eight straight points to seal the game.

For Finlandia, Johnson had 16 points and three steals while juniors Ilrick Higgins-Moise and Emmett Johnson scored 11 points each.

For Grace Christian, Jalen Rawls scored 32 points.

Finlandia stays at the Paavo Nurmi Center, Tuesday, Jan. 17, playing Wisconsin Lutheran. The game is scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
