Finlandia women lose on the road to Eagles
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Juniors Bethany Baldwin and Natalie Bartle scored in double figures as the Finlandia University women’s basketball team (5-10) lost 74-63 to Northwestern (Minn.) (6-7), Tuesday afternoon at the Ericksen Center.
The first period saw Finlandia and Northwestern go back and forth. The Eagles were up 12-10 with 3:24 to go. The Lions then closed the period on a 9-1 run to lead by six.
In the second period, freshman Kalli Chynoweth knocked one in from the rafters. That made it 28-20, FinnU at the 3:35 mark.
The third period resembled a pendulum. Finlandia led by eight, 37-29 with 9:11 left. NWSP went on a 18-5 run to lead 47-42 at the 2:55 mark.
The Lions scored six straight to move up 48-47 with 2:08 to go. Northwestern scored eight straight to take control.
For Finlandia, Bartle had 29 points, nine rebounds and three steals while Baldwin had 15 points and five steals.
For Northwestern, Taylor Schuck had 14 points and Grace Landvik had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Finlandia is off until Friday, Jan. 20, when they host Maranatha Baptist. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
