FREDERICKSBURG, Va. — Junior Natalie Bartle broke a school record as the Finlandia University women’s basketball team (12-12) lost 96-61 to NCAA DIII #1 Christopher Newport (25-0), Friday night at the William M. Anderson Center. This was a Coast-To-Coast Conference Championship semifinal game.
Christopher Newport jumped out to a 15-2 lead after five minutes and did not look back.
For Finlandia, Bartle had 31 points, eight rebounds and hit three 3-pointers and junior Bethany Baldwin scored 14 points.
Bartle pushed her season-point total to 527, breaking the record of 517 by Beth Koski (2003-04). She became just the second player in program history to reach the 500-point mark.
For Salisbury, Hannah Orloff and Anaya Simmons scored 12 points each.
Finlandia has concluded the 2022-23 season.
