HANCOCK — The Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Blue Bolts girls and the Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes boys track teams won the Bulldog Invite on Monday at Hancock High School. The Blue Bolts girls finished with 88 points, seven points better than the Lakes. The Lakes boys finished with 112 points, 10 points better than Bessemer.

On the girls’ side, Ontonagon’s Alli Bobula set a season record with her 13.3-second 100-meter dash.

She finished second to Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Emily Jokela in the 200-meter. Jokela ran a 27.9-second 200-meter dash. Jokela also won the 400-meters with a season-best 1:01.4.

Jokela also won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 47.9 seconds.

Hancock’s Ella Keranen finished second in the 800-meter run, which set a new personal best for her. She took second behind Bessemer’s Natalie Stone. Keranen also set a new season record for herself in the 1600-meters with a time of 6:07.5, finishing second to Stone.

Stone also won the 3200-meters with a personal best 13:27.9, beating Rayna Towles of Hancock, who ran a personal-best 13:53.5.

Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Abi Codere set a season-best in 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.0, just edging Dollar Bay’s Ashlea Datto, who finished with the same time. Codere also won the pole vault with a height of 8 feet, six inches.

In the 4-by-200 relay, Dollar Bay’s team of Keny McCrum, Nora Keranen, Adelyn Smith and Evelyn Moilanen beat out the Baraga team of Corina Jahfetson, Rylee Holm, Jaycee Larson and Makenna Hendrickson with a time of 2:04.7.

In the 4-by-400 relay, Hancock’s team of Alecia Aho, Kysa Givens, Thea Tocquin and Brielle Kero took the top spot with a time of 4:41.3.

Kero also anchored the 4-by-800 relay team that also featured Ella Keranen, Jayna Keranen, and Liana Berg. The quartet finished with a time of 11:12.5, just under 38 seconds faster than a team from Dollar Bay.

In the field, Chassell’s Amya Niemi set a new personal best in winning the shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 5 inches.

Jahfetson won the discus with a throw of 95 feet, 6 inches.

Calumet’s Caitlyn Strom won the long jump with a length of 14 feet, 10 inches.

On the boys’ side, the Lakes’ Matthew Jokela won the 400-meters with a season-best time of 54.1 seconds.

Dollar Bay’s Amos Norland set a season-best time of 2:11.4 in the 800-meters to earn the win. He also won the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:56.8.

Chassell’s Kalvin Kytta won the 3200-meter run with a personal best time of 10:32.1. Norland also set a new personal record with a time of 10:54.4.

Lake Linden’s Gabe Popko set a personal record in winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.1 seconds.

Joshua Gaunt of Dollar Bay won the 300-meter hurdles.

The Lakes’ 4-by-200 team of James Milkey, Sam Roberts, Mason Holzberger, and Matthew Jokela won the relay with a time of 1:39.5.

Tyler Black, Blake Tarvis, Dane Anderson, and Isaac Larson of Calumet won the 4-by-400 relay with a time of 3;54.4.

Hancock’s Myles Lewis won the shot put with a personal-best 42 feet, 5 inches.

Sincere Brooks of Calumet set a personal record in the discus at 141 feet, 4 inches to win the event.

Holzberger edged out Baraga’s Nolan Hendrickson to win the high jump with a season-best 5 feet, 4 inches.

Roberts took the pole vault with a height of 10 feet, six inches, beating out teammates Nathan St. Onge and Holzberger.

Jeffers’ Tavis Larson won the long jump with a personal record jump of 18 feet, 3 inches.
