DETROIT — The Calumet Copper Kings volleyball team won two of four matches during the D3/D4 Showcase tournament on Saturday in Detroit.

They defeated Oakland Christian, 25-12, and 25-19. They then topped Madison, 25-18 and 25-22.

They split with Cass City, 21-25 and 25-21, before dropping their final match to Traverse City St. Francis, 16-25, 30-32.

Allison Bjorn had a strong day with 12 kills and 25 digs. Maddie Torola had 19 kills, nine aces, and nine digs. Jackie Kiilunen led the Copper Kings with 29 kills on the day, along with 24 digs. Caitlyn Strom had 14 kills and 21 digs. Sienna Anderson had eight kills and digs.

Izzy Loukus had 23 digs. Gabby Anderson had 24 digs and six aces.

Laina Kariniemi put up 89 assists on the day.
