CALUMET — Last week, the MIVCA (Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association) announced their Region 1 All-Region Team. Calumet had five girls named to the team, along with Coach of the Year Kate Bonacorsi. Houghton also had five players named to the team, along with two from Hancock.

Crystal Falls Forest Park’s Lindsey Anderson was named Sub-Varsity Coach of the Year.

The Copper Kings who were honored include juniors Allison Bjorn, Jackie Kiilunen, and Madelyn Torola. Seniors Caitlyn Strom and Laina Karineimi were also named to the team.

From Houghton, seniors Danica Ryynanen, Clea Ollanketo, Brynn Arko, and Sophie Neves were all honored. Junior Laney Johnson was also named to the team.

From Hancock, senior Brielle Kero and junior Brooke Koskela were both honored.

The team also includes four girls from Marquette, Jaylee Dellies, Jessica Gooch, Ava Maki, and Roegen Hruska, four girls from Kingsford, Ellery Nash, Kailey Sundquist, Madelynn Kreider, and Alyssa Larson, two from Negaunee, Marisa Hird and Ashley Bell, three from Crystal Falls, Leah Feldhausen, Ava Fischer, and Ema Stepien, three from Ironwood, Hanna Vaughn, Bree Delich, and Audra Pawlak, and one from North Dickinson, Raina Ledzian.
