BOYS ROUNDUP: Panthers, Lakes earn wins

PANTHERS GET FIRST WIN

CHASSELL — The Chassell Panther boys basketball team trailed in the fourth quarter against the Watersmeet Nimrods, but they found a way to overcome 24 points from Blake Shively and emerge with a 72-67 win in overtime Tuesday night.

The Panthers needed 22 points in the fourth to pull even and force the extra session, and in those extra minutes, they had Eli Danison score five of his team-high 18 points and Oliver Campbell score four of his 15 to push them over the top and to their first win of the season.

Mason Loukus, Kalvin Kytta, and Grady Olson all finished in double figures as well, with Loukus scoring 13 and Kytta and Olson picking up 12 each.

For the Nimrods, Davide Messina finished with 10 points, six of which came in the third quarter, and Lennox Poler and Thomas Caron both picked up nine points each.

LAKES TOP EWEN, 58-47

LAKE LINDEN — The Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes improved to 2-0 with a 58-47 victory over the Ewen-Trout Creek Panthers on Monday.

Gabe Popko led the scoring for the Lakes with 27 points. Austin Gordon of the Panthers scored 26.
