Gladiators defeat visiting Purple Hornets, 67-34

ONTONAGON — The Ontonagon Gladiators boys basketball team earned their second win of the season on Monday with a 67-34 victory over the L’Anse Purple Hornets. According to Ontonagon’s coach Brittney Turin-Jilbert, the key to victory was defense.

“Our press worked really well for us in creating turnovers and fast break opportunities,” she said. “I thought we also pushed the ball a lot better on offense than our previous two game.”

Jack Nelson led the scoring for the Gladiators with 26 points. Carson Uotila followed with 23.

“It was nice to see Carson Uotila have an offensive presence tonight and getting really physical inside,” Turin-Jilbert said. “I really thought a lot of kids stepped up on offense tonight and moved the ball well.”

Ontonagon (2-1) heads to Wakefield on Thursday.
