Jordao named Pat Riepma Postgraduate Scholarship Award Recipient

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech Huskies tennis senior Vitor Jordao has been named the 2023-24 Pat Riepma Postgraduate Scholarship recipient, the GLIAC office announced Tuesday.

Jordao is in his fifth season on the Michigan Tech men’s tennis team. The native of Recife, Brazil has been named to the CSC Academic All-District Team, a three-time ITA Scholar-Athlete, and a four-time member of the GLIAC Academic Excellence Team. He was named to the All-GLIAC Second Team for the 2022-23 season.

Jordao holds a 3.9 grade-point average as a dual major in Mechanical Engineering and Engineering Management with a minor in Spanish. He was twice a candidate for the Outstanding Student in Business Award and is a member of the International Business Honor Society – Beta Gamma Sigma. Jordao has been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee since 2021, is a team captain, and has worked as a Research Assistant in Michigan Tech’s Electrical Engineering Department. In the community, Jordao has served and helped people living in the streets of his hometown, Recife, Brazil. He has also volunteered at Houghton Elementary School.

Jordao plans to pursue an Accelerated Master’s Degree in Mechatronics.
