Tech Tennis competed in Detroit on Saturday

DETROIT — Michigan Tech tennis opened April with a road trip to Wayne State on Saturday. The women’s team fell 6-1 and the men dropped a 7-0 match to the Warriors.

Chiara Heinz went undefeated on the day. She defeated Shanice Weekes 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 singles and teamed up with Emily Rose for a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. Marina Fernandez won her first set at No. 6 singles before ultimately falling in three.

The Huskies host Davenport on Friday and Purdue Northwest on Saturday at Gates Tennis Center. Artem Sharkota, Eli Pinnoo, Nikolai Prosjanykov, Ricardo Nunez Cuesta, Heinz, Grace Eland, and Fernandez will be honored on Senior Day Saturday.
