IM to drop two varsity sports next school year

IRON MOUNTAIN — Two varsity sports have been canceled for the next school year at Iron Mountain High School.

On the recommendation of the Iron Mountain School Board’s athletic committee, no tennis or golf teams will compete in 2025-26 due to low numbers and scheduling conflicts.

The district will reevaluate after the next school year and consider re-offering those sports, the board decided this week.

Superintendent Jerry Sardina said he believes they have some larger classes coming up in the middle school grades.

Girls tennis had been offered in the fall and boys tennis in the spring. Golf is a spring sport.

Starting at $3.50/week.
