Purple Hornets boys defeat Chassell

L’ANSE — Sam Lee led all scorers with 23 points as the L’Anse Purple Hornets boys basketball team cruised to a 91-58 victory over the Chassell Panthers Wednesday at the L’Anse Area High School gym. Lee had 12 points in the first quarter as part of a 27-point opening frame for the Purple Hornets. Keegan Davidson added seven of his 18 points in the quarter as well. Vikings boys shut down Chassell

BARAGA — Daniel Conner scored 25 points to help lift the Baraga Vikings boys basketball team to a 67-50 win at home over the Chassell Panthers. As impressive as Conner’s night was, Chassell’s Brayden Larson did everything he could to match it. He hit seven 3-pointers and led all scorers with 27 points. The Vikings raced out to a 16-5 lead after one quarter and then held on from there to earn the win. Houghton’s Terrence Nolan put up 25 points Monday as the Gremlins defeated Lake Linden-Hubbell. In the game, he made seven 3-pointers in the first quarter, and finished his night with 10. Both tied MHSAA records. He finished with 43 points in the contest.
