Jets volleyball advances with win over Ironwood

IRONWOOD — The Jeffers Jets dropped the first set in their Division 3 District 65 semifinal game, 28-26, but then stormed back to win the next three sets, 25-14, 25-19, and 25-17, to advance to Friday’s championship game over the Ironwood Red Devils. Mia Nordstrom led the team with four aces, six blocks, and 16 kills. Lainey Asiala had six kills. Aili Kinnunen added four. The Jets will face West Iron County Friday. The Wykons defeated the Calumet Copper Kings in five sets Wednesday.

Huskies soccer ready for final test in Purdue Northwest Saturday

HOUGHTON — There is no other way to put it, the Michigan Tech Huskies soccer team’s season has been a long and difficult one. Between being young and seeing a number of veteran players suffer season-ending injuries, the Huskies enter the final weekend of the season with slim hopes of making the GLIAC Tournament after dropping both games last weekend to Wisconsin-Parkside and Roosevelt.
