Tomashek earns CSC All-District Honors
HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech men’s basketball sophomore guard Marcus Tomashek has been selected by the College Sports Communicators (Formerly CoSIDA) to the 2023-24 Academic All-District team announced Tuesday.
Tomashek, hailing from Green Bay, Wisconsin, was one of the top-scorers in all of Division II in his sophomore campaign, averaging over 20 points per game, finishing at 22.9 per outing, shooting 45.6 percent from the field, 41.3 percent from 3-point range and 86.7 from the foul line. He earned First Team All-GLIAC accolades and had a GLIAC-leading three Offensive Player of the Week honors.
In the classroom, Tomashek holds a 3.8 GPA, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Forestry.
The 2023-24 Academic All-District Men’s Basketball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men’s basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. The CSC Academic All-District teams include the student-athletes listed on the following pages.
Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced April 17, 2024.
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2023-24 Divisions II and III Academic All-America programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
