New watercolor paintings by featured artist Nancy Kromer at CCCAC

HANCOCK — The Featured Artist in the Copper Country Community Arts Center is Nancy Kromer. Over the last winter and spring she focused on painting flowers and landscapes in watercolor and mixed media. The collection of paintings on display feature lilies and lily pads, asters, impatiens and lupines, as well as lush landscapes.

Nancy was born and raised in Hancock, Michigan. She earned her degree from Michigan State University where she majored in Fine Arts with a BA in Elementary Education. In 2001 she and her husband returned to the Copper Country and built a home on the Houghton Portage Canal where her family spent their summers for three generations. She belongs to the local group Copper Country Associated Artists as well as a group in Arkansas where she and her husband spend their winters. She is also a long time member of the Copper Country Community Arts Council. She finds inspiration in both, the beauty of the Copper Country as well as the Hot Springs area in Arkansas.

She says, “I’ve been blessed with the experience of receiving awards for my work at art shows. It reminds me that others appreciate my vision of our world, which keeps me growing and challenging myself as an artist!” Nancy Kromer’s work will be on display through the end of July.

The Copper Country Community Arts Center is located at 126 Quincy Street in Hancock. This exhibit is supported by a grant from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs with support from the National Endowment for the Arts.
