Keweenaw International Children's Festival Editor: The board of the Elaine Bacon Literacy Program would like to thank the many international and local people and organizations who made Saturday's first ever Keweenaw International Children's Festival at the Portage Lake District Library a huge success! New Jail, rinse, repeat Editor: We have been dealing with the seemingly non stop new jail conversation for some years now. Might I suggest part of the problem is the transperancy into our local legal issues or lack of over the years. We used to see regular police & courts that gave an insight into how many and why we might have an over crowding issue. But that got removed. Humiliation Editor: After listening to plaintive responses as to why the GOP lost elections held recently in New York, Maryland and Virginia, I’m at a loss as to why these frustrated elephants can’t fathom the real reason for their humiliating defeats.
