Listening Editor: Many years ago, I had a falling-out with a church friend over something in an organization to which we belonged. All summer I had been listening to others in the organization who were reinforcing my position, so I was very certain that my opinion was the right one. Skill Levels Vary Editor I had to laugh out loud at the opinion column by Tim Graham (of the Media Research Center) in the October 25th Mining Gazette. Mr. Graham is outraged that fact checks by PolitiFact have rated Trump statements as "Pants on Fire" 217 times since 2007, and Biden statements as "Pants on Fire" only 7 times in the same period. Ranked Choice Voting, a better way To the Editor: Are you concerned about all the anger that is part of politics in the US today? Feel like your concerns aren’t being heard by politicians? The problem with the current election system is a candidate only needs to get the MOST votes to win. Our system allows candidates to win with less than half of the votes. If there are more than two candidates, someone could win with only 35% of the total votes, which leaves 65% of the voters unhappy. The more candidates there are, the percentage of votes needed to win becomes smaller and smaller. ...
