Dear Editor: The Twin Lakes Volunteer Fire Department would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended and supported our annual Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser. Your presence and generosity made the event a great success. Your support helps us continue to serve our community with the resources we need. To the Editor, As voters in Houghton County are asked to approve a new 1-mill property tax for the Copper Shores Meals on Wheels program, we must ask ourselves a critical question: is this millage truly necessary, or is it a matter of convenience for a foundation with vast resources? I have serious doubts. Copper Shores Community Health Foundation is sitting on an endowment of nearly $80 million. Our conversations with strangers offer opportunities to talk about things that matter — the weather, of course, and our careers and opinions. Editor: "The Quincy, Franklin, Hancock Township Fire Department would like to thank all who patronized our Chicken BBQ fundraiser on June 8th. It was fun and a huge success! A special thanks for the support of sponsors as well: McGann Building Supply, Vollwerth & Co., and Campioni Markets. We certainly appreciate the public service messages provided by the “WOLF” and “WMPL” radio stations, WLUC-TV and Dave’s BP. The 50/50 winner was Ron Schmidt. To the editor: Mohawk-Fulton 4th of July cash and product donations allow us to provide each child, senior, and veteran that attends a hotdog/sloppy joe, chips, pop/water, and ice cream free. With our community support we’re able to provide 300 goodie bags & free games with cash prizes for our kids. These donations also support the Mohawk Park Committee’s weekly Music in the Park that begins July 1.
