Peaceful protest

To the editor: Most Trump supporters in Washington D.C. on Jan. 6 were peaceful, but that wasn’t emphasized in biased news reports about the “deadly riot” that day. Last year’s numerous riots by Marxists and anarchists were described by the news media as “mostly peaceful protests.” They caused $2 billion in damages plus many injuries and deaths. Time to switch to nuclear

To the editor: Nuclear power: what is it? It is one of the cleanest, most reliable powers that we have today. A number of years ago, I wrote a letter to this paper about nuclear power on naval ships, aircraft carriers and submarines. The following year, I went to an REA annual membership meeting at the Chassell Township School. There were two VIPs there; one from Lansing and one from WEE Engineering in Green Bay. Think about what you toss

To the editor: Our seventh-grade class did a poster on how most animals die in the Atlantic. We found that less than half of the animals die organically (from natural causes), and what we do here affects them. If you throw a bottle out in this area, it will eventually end up in an ocean. Some simple things you can change in your everyday lives to help are: use less plastic, like using reusable water bottles, bags and straws. Another idea of ours was just simply recycle more. These are just some ways you could help by changing something in your everyday life.

Drive-by Santa

To the editor: We had a drive by Santa on Sunday, Dec. 13. I would like to thank all those involved. Santa, the fire department, the township, Brian and Julie, Renne, Carol, Jane, Matt, Marcy and Eric, Kathy, Maya, Lassela Insurance, the Mohawk Superette, Slim’s, Pat’s IGA, Econo Foods, Erickson — Crowley and Joe, Walmart and all those that helped and donated. Defund Bergman

To the editor: November 2020 afforded my granddaughters their first opportunity to participate as voters in a Presidential election and use their voices to help shape our democracy. They researched candidates, policy, and proposals, completed their ballots, and returned them early. They were excited to discuss how elections work and follow the returns. Then, our 1st district Congressman, Jack Bergman, stepped in to undermine their votes and the election result. COVID protocols

To the editor: The “COVID-19 protocols” and “COVID-19 rules” in sports, including professional sports, are manifestly preposterous nonsense. Once again, the principle is restrictions placed on people who are not sick, and players are “protected” against other players and other people who are not ill, and in many cases are not even reasonably believed to be ill. Either players are too sick or injured to play, or they play (of course, in ice hockey, players going out because of an injury is hardly a given).
