August 8
• Canal Rock, 6-9 p.m. Porvoo Park. Tonight’s free Canal Rock concert at Porvoo Park in Hancock features music from Splyt Shift. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on.
• Lake Linden Farmers Market, 3-6 p.m., Lake Linden Park, offers fresh produce, homemade treats and crafts at Lake Linden Park.
• The annual Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club Gem and Mineral Show will be held at the Houghton Elementary School on Bridge Street Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Hours are Fri: 1 – 8 p.m. Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. This year’s special attraction is a life-size Dimetrodon skeleton. In presentations on Friday and Saturday at 4:00 pm, geologist and author Dr. Nathalie Brandes will describe how, when and where these apex predators lived before the age of dinosaurs.

• Eagle Harbor Art Fair, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. St. Peter’s by the Sea Church, Eagle Harbor.
• Cro Fest 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. Calumet Theatre. The inaugural CroFest is a free, family-friendly festival celebrating Slovenian and Croatian heritage as part of the Village of Calumet’s 150th anniversary and the Calumet Theatre’s 125th anniversary. Enjoy authentic Balkan cuisine, music and dance performances and crafts, and learn about an important part of the Keweenaw’s heritage that is often overlooked.

Sept. 3
• The Inter-Lutheran Seminary’s fall semester starts on September 3. Daily classes include History of the Church: Reformation to the Present Day, Principles of Biblical Interpretation, Gospel of John, New Testament Introduction, Christian Education, Isaiah & Koine Greek Readings. The Monday night class will be on Prison Epistles and begin on September 8 at 7PM at 916 Pine Street, Hancock and available online.
