• Lighthouse Day Ice Cream Social, 1 p.m. Eagle Harbor Lighthouse. Celebrate National Lighthouse Day with an ice creamsocial at the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse.

•. Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support. 5:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library. A free discussion and support for those experiencing a pregnancy or infant loss. All are welcome regardless of gender. Sponsored by the Omega House. For more information, please contact the Omega House at: 906-482-4438.

• Houghton Waterfront Concert, 7 p.m. Kestner Waterfront Park. Tonight’s free Downtown Houghton concert features country music from Tom Katalin and Highway 41 at the bandshell at Ray Kestner Waterfront Park. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. Kids can play at Chutes and Ladders nearby.

• Daniell Park Concert, 7 p.m. Daniell Park, Laurium. Tonight’s free concert at the Daniell Park bandshell in Laurium will feature Steve’s Overpopulated One-Man Band.

• L’Anse Waterfront Concert. 7 p.m. Tonight’s concert features popular hits from One Voice

• Performance in the Park. 7 p.m. Donny Kilpela Memorial Park, Copper Harbor. Tonight’s concert features Heather Evans

• Chassell Heritage Center Program. 7 p.m.. Tonight’s Chassell Heritage Center program will feature a Finnish travelogue with Keith Myers.

August 8-10

• The annual Copper Country Rock and Mineral Club Gem and Mineral Show will be held at the Houghton Elementary School on Bridge Street. Hours are Fri: 1 – 8 p.m. Sat. 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Sunday 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. This year’s special attraction is a life-size Dimetrodon skeleton. In presentations on Friday and Saturday at 4:00 pm, geologist and author Dr. Nathalie Brandes will describe how, when and

where these apex predators lived before the age of dinosaurs.

Sept. 3

• The Inter-Lutheran Seminary’s fall semester starts on September 3. Daily classes include History of the Church: Reformation to the Present Day, Principles of Biblical Interpretation, Gospel of John, New Testament Introduction, Christian Education, Isaiah & Koine Greek Readings. The Monday night class will be on Prison Epistles and begin on September 8 at 7PM at 916 Pine Street, Hancock and available online.
