• Calumet High School annual Homecoming Parade, 6 p.m. Parade line-up will begin on Mine St. make its way through downtown Calumet.

• Free Soup Supper, 6 p.m. Mission United Church, Pelke. The public is invited to a free chili soup supper on Friday at 6 pm. Breads, desserts and beverages will also be served.

October 9

• Better Together will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on 400 Ingot Street in Hancock. The speaker will be Carol Jones and her topic will be, “What’s on Your Mind?” Special music will be provided by Stephanie Eshbach Veenstra and Katelyn Eshbach. A brunch will be served and there is suggested donation of $10. All proceeds over the cost of the event will be donated to local charities. Mission United Lutheran Church, 16463 Pelkie Rd., Pelkie, MI. is holding their annual Holly & Harvest Bazaar From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11. Brunch will be served at 9am and luncheon at 11 a.m. Homemade bakery, jams and jellies, Christmas decor and quality rummage will be offered.

• “A Toast to Big Annie!” at the Calumet Theatre begins with a free screening of “Red Metal: The Copper Country Strike of 1913” from 6:30 to 7:30. p.m. Bar opens at 6 p.m. Limited tickets are available at $65 per person to attend a fundraising reception in the ballroom from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. where you will be welcomed with piano music by Paul Behn, followed by an exclusive talk by author Steve Lehto, appetizers from Miscowaubik, live music by The Jones Brothers and a silent auction.
