February 18
• Lunch and Learn. 11:30 a.m. Baraga County Chamber of Commerce. This month’s Baraga County Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn will feature Dianne Koskinen, with tips about how to make eye-catching flyers for events. There is no charge, and lunch is provided.
• Seed exchange, 5:30 – 7 p.m. Carnegie Museum of the Keweenaw. The Pewabic Street Community Garden Seed Exchange is an opportunity to share and exchange seeds before the gardening season gets into full swing. It’s also an opportunity to socialize with other gardeners, share ideas, and ask questions. All are welcome! Bring seeds to share if you have them, but this is not mandatory.
• Soccer town hall. 6:30 A.E. Seaman Mineral Museum. Local soccer families are invited to a community town hall. The Houghton Football Club and Copper Country Soccer Association leadership teams have been exploring a potential merger to create a unified youth soccer organization. • Superior Wind Symphony – Classics and Contemporaries, 7:30 Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts. Michigan Tech’s Superior Wind Symphony presents a celebration of wind band masterworks, old and new, from the 18th century to the 21st.
February 19
• Keweenaw Chamber Lunch and Learn, 11:45 a.m., Bluffs Senior Community. The Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce February Lunch and Learn program will feature a presentation about digital marketing. Chamber members are welcome at no charge; non-members are also welcome with a $10 fee for lunch. Advance registration is required – email info@keweenaw.org.
• Sustainability Film Series 7-9 p.m. Fisher Hall, MTU. “Farming While Black” a powerful cinematic exploration of the intersectionality of race, class, and agriculture, this film offers a vital lens through which one can examine historical and contemporary issues of land ownership, food sovereignty, and economic inequality.
February 20
• Blood Drive – Hancock, 11 .a.m. – 2 p.m. Hancock High School/Middle School. The U.P. Regional Boood Center will host a blood drive at Hancock High School. Walk-ins are welcome.
