April 11

• Annual pancake breakfast fundraiser, 8 – 10 a.m. Pelkie Mennonite School, 11445 Kyro Road, Pelkie. Money raised will go to the local family of 4 year-old Roscoe Parker who was diagnosed with Burkitt Cell Leukemia Cancer, a rare and very aggressive form of cancer. Checks may be made to Pelkie Mennonite Church.

• Waste reduction drive, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. MTU SDC, South Entrance Lot 22. Collect hard-to-recycle items, they will recycle them for free. Accepted items include empty deodorant tubes, all beauty products, socks, razors, dental products, and Tetra Pak containers. This year, they will also accept unbroken fluorescent bulbs for a fee – 4′ and 8′ bulbs at $2 per pound, and smaller bulbs at $4 per pound.

• Spaghetti Dinner, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Sponsored by Ontonagon VFW Post 5600 and American Legion Post 92, at 915 River street Ontonagon. All proceeds go to Rockland American Legion Post 92 for Boys and Girls State.

• Calumet Figure Skating show, 6 p.m. Calumet Colosseum. The Calumet Figure Skating Club’s Spring show is “Broadcast on Blades!”, and features some of the skaters’ favorite songs from the radio. There is an additional show Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $8 for students and seniors. Kids ages 5 and under get in for free. Tickets may be purchased at the door, or from your favorite skater.

April 12

• Spaghetti Dinner, noon to 4 p.m. 1308 Quincy Street Hancock. The Alfred Erickson American Legion Post 186 will serve take-out spaghetti dinners Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. at the post home on Quincy Street. The suggested donation is $10. They ask patrons to enter from Birch Street and exit onto Quincy Street. Watch for people directing traffic. Food will be delivered to your car. Tickets can be purchased from Legion members or at the event. Served with fresh French bread, coleslaw and a cookie. Money raised will support veterans’ funeral services, Boys State, Girl and Boy Scouts, Legion baseball and other charitable community projects.

• Let’s Eat Community Meal, 4-5:30 p.m. The “Let’s Eat” community meal program offers a free dinner at St. Ann’s Church in Baraga. All are welcome.

April 18

• 56th Annual Ed Clements Spaghetti Dinner from 5-7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 16 S. 6th St. L’Anse MI. Enjoy some spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, and desserts. There is also a wine pull, silent auction, raffle buckets, Jackpot Raffle tickets, and Scrip/RaiseRight gift cards. All proceeds benefit the SHS Home and School Association. Tickets are $15 for adults, $6 for children (age 5-12) and can be purchased in advance from the Sacred Heart School office or any SHS family.
