Seventh-grade spelling bee finalists Serah Oommen of Houghton Middle School and Lila Hyrkas of Washington Middle School are seen with their medals.

The top two in each grade advanced to the U.P. Finals located in Ishpeming and Negaunee. Listed in order of finish, the Regional Spelling Bee finalists are:

Fifth Grade: Sophia Wu – Houghton Middle School, Jackson Burroughs – Lake Linden-Hubbell.

Sixth Grade: William Jiang – Houghton Middle School, Race Auger – Washington Middle School

Seventh grade: Lila Hyrkas – Washington Middle School, Serah Oommen – Houghton Middle School

Eighth grade: Anna Wu – Houghton Middle School; Ben Hemmer – Houghton Middle School
