Planning Commission OKs McGann request
Ben Garvbacz/Daily Mining Gazette Adam Griffis, left, and Steve Walton of the Planning Commission voted in favor of approving the zoning permit application at 616 Hancock St. Walton said the approval was only for the first phase of the plans for McGann Building Supply.
HANCOCK — McGann Building Supply’s zoning permit application was approved by the Hancock Planning Commission during its meeting on Monday. The application was made for revised plans which apply to a five foot setback according to Steve Walton of the Planning Commission. The five foot gap will be between the project area at 616 Hancock St. and the sidewalk.
“The later phases have changed a bit, but they’re all internal,” Walton said. “And all I would note to start is that in the staff report on it meets all the requirements for parking spaces, setback, sites, trash, etc. and snow storage.”
The site will see the addition of a drive through shed with two garage doors. The approval for the zoning permit only pertains to the first phase of the plan.
“Phase two, which we have not approved yet, would be the addition that basically replaces the back end or attaches to the back end of the existing area,” Walton said.
In other action the Planning Commission voted to change the date of its next meeting, which has moved from Dec. 22 to Dec. 15. The meeting was changed to move away from a date close to Christmas and receive as much public participation as possible. The meeting on Dec. 15 will include a public hearing regarding the city’s sign ordinance.
