Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education, regular May meeting

The Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting virtually on Tuesday, May 19.

Career Tech Education continues to grow every year since the passage of the CTE millage in the CCISD. As of right now 350 students have expressed interest in a CTE class for next year and the ISD is still waiting for numbers from two schools. The ISD will be adding a new CTE class called Megatronics which will be held on the campus of MTU and the class is already at capacity. With the continued growth, Stockero recommended that CTE Director Shawn Kolbus move from two-thirds time to full time as Director. The board agreed and stated they were very happy to see the continued growth of CTE.

Jennifer Beaudette, the CCISD Camp Nesbit Director for students with disabilities presented the board with a letter and a check for $1000 to the program from the non-profit organization “Dreams

Unlimited.” The organization thanked the CCISD for having a lasting effect on the many children with disabilities and their families, as well as the therapists who work with them. Stockero and the board

thanked Ms. Beaudette for her work with Camp Nesbit and Dreams Unlimited for their generous donation.
