Keweenaw clubs searching for vendors

TORCH LAKE TOWNSHIP — Keweenaw Clubs are looking for vendors for their Swap Meet, which will take place on July 9-10 at the former Carnival Grounds on the Boot Jack Road near Lake Linden.

The times are: Saturday, July 9, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Sunday, July 10, 9 a.m. – Noon.

Any vendor is welcome, be it a private individual wishing to sell items, a business, said ATV Club member Yvonne Robillard, as well as crafters.

The Keweenaw Snowmobile Club states on their website (https://www.keweenawsnowmobileclub.com/)that Pricing for vendors is: 15×20 site $25, 30×40 dealer site $100.

The Keweenaw ATV club is a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit organization which works with the Michigan DNR, local governments, and private land owners in facilitating an ATV trail system that connects all municipalities and spurs in Houghton and Keweenaw counties while working within the guidelines and laws of the regulatory agencies as the pertain to off-road vehicles.

The club also maintains the trails in North Houghton and Keweenaw counties.

The Keweenaw Snowmobile Club is also a non-profit organization, states the club website, responsible for grooming and maintaining the 200 miles of snowmobile trails that run from the hamlet of Toivola (roughly 15 miles south of Houghton) to the very tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula at High Rock Bay.

It takes a fleet of five groomers to keep the trails in pristine condition.

“We pride ourselves (on) the fact that nearly every mile in our trail system is groomed once every 24 hours, and often twice in high traffic areas,” states the site. “That level of grooming is critical to turn the 250+ inches of annual snowfall that falls into miles of smooth trail. Our annual average of total groomed miles in a season is over 35,000. That is enough to circle the world nearly 1 1/2 times.”

All proceeds will benefit the Keweenaw ATV Club and the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club.
