IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP – Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post responded to a kayaking accident at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Saturday near the Narrows Creek, after a member of a group of kayakers suffered a head injury while kayaking down the river, according to a news release.

Clint Mabie, 49, of Hurley, Wisconsin, died as a result of his injuries. Officers and paramedics were assisted by Gogebic Search and Rescue, the Ironwood Township Fire Department, Gogebic County Victim’s Services, and Michigan DNR Conservation Officers.
