Mark Wilcox/Daily Mining Gazette Firefighters enter a building at 707 Baraga in Houghton Wednesday morning. One person was in the home when the blaze was reported, but escaped without serious injury.

HOUGHTON — Firefighters from at least two departments responded to a structure fire in West Houghton Early Wednesday Morning. The alarm was turned in shortly after 7 a.m. regarding the fire at 707 Baraga St. Several engines from Houghton Fire and Hurontown Fire Departments responded. In addition several police vehicles and an ambulance responded.

Eyewitness reports indicate one individual was in the home when blaze started but was able to escape, with apparently no serious injuries. According to unconfirmed reports the fire started in the kitchen of the home.

No other information was available at press time.
