Community Gardens the focus of latest PHF Request for Proposals

Portage Health Foundation is aiming to plant gardens to watch its community grow with the latest request for proposals (RFP), which focuses on community gardens. Up to $50,000 is available. Grant applications are due March 20.

“The health benefits of gardening individually and collectively are broad and well documented,” said Dr. Michelle Seguin, Director of Community Health. “We believe the community garden RFP is a unique opportunity to increase access to fresh, local food while also providing common spaces for education and social connection.”

The foundation is releasing this RFP in hopes of increasing local food production and access to fresh and healthy produce, providing opportunities for education across the lifespan, and to create shared green spaces that foster social connection among community members.

PHF expects to award up to $50,000. There is no minimum grant amount, and the maximum amount awarded under this RFP will be $5,000. A letter of inquiry is due February 10, grant applications are due March 20 and grant awards are expected to be announced April 10.

On Thursday, January 23 Dr. Seguin will publish a webinar with additional information on the RFP and what the foundation is hoping to see from grantees. Follow Portage Health Foundation on social media or sign-up for an email notification about the webinar by visiting phfgive.org.

All application information, letter of inquiry forms and a detailed RFP can be found at phfgive.org by clicking Grant Requests.
