HANCOCK — Several community groups expressed interest, but none were able to fully commit, so the Polar Bear Dive during Heikinpäivä will not take place this year.

At least one group has expressed an interest in championing the Dive for next year’s festival, and into the future, but they are in a year of excessive transition and weren’t able to take on the project for Heikinpäivä 2020.

“There’s a lot more to putting on the Polar Bear Dive than meets the eye,” David Maki said. “Right after this year’s festival wraps up, we’ll be in touch with potential organizing groups and get them on their way to hosting the Dive for Heikinpäivä 2021.”
