The Ontonagon County Commission on Aging Board announces with great regret the cancellation of the Annual Senior Fest. This decision was made with heavy hearts. They feel it would be in the best interest of everyone’s health and well-being. This annual event has been held the third Wednesday in July for the past 44 years and can gather over 150 people.

Knowing how COVID-19 may impact people’s lives, the health and safety of our community is our priority. During this public health crisis when everyone is under such strain, it does not seem right to pursue financial assistance from area businesses and individuals. Nor does it seem right to ask for help from groups and volunteers from the area. The decision was made with heavy hearts, but the health and safety of our community is our priority. The welfare of our older adults is the agency’s mission.

The in-home and adult day center services our participants receive are limited or suspended due to COVID-19. Only essential services are provided due to the Governor’s Executive Order. Friendly reassurance calls and pre-visit calls are made to check the status and needs of the participant.
