Dollar Bay-Tamarack City school graduation

DOLLAR BAY — Dollar Bay-Tamarack City Area Schools held its unique 2020 Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, June 6, at 10 a.m. at the Dollar Bay Baseball Park. The honored seniors were seated along the fence of the ball field in golf carts and side-by-sides! Families were parked in vehicles facing the graduates.  Friends and extended family were invited to park at Quincy’s Restaurant or on Main Street. The one-of-a-kind ceremony included speeches by Class Valedictorian Ashton Janke, Class Salutatorian David Storm, Class President Louise Carlson, Guidance Counselor Jesse Kentala, and Superintendent-Principal Christina Norland. Donna Engman, School Board President, conferred the diplomas. The ceremony was broadcast live by 93.5/The Mix, thanks to Dirk Hembroff, and the ceremony was recorded by Kristin Ojaniemi of Oja Media. Local photographers Michelle Anderson and Kassy Kallio took pictures. Following the ceremony, a Dollar Bay fire truck led the golf cart and side-by-side-riding graduates in a parade, with a Tamarack City truck pulling up the rear, following a route along Main Street and Fir, to the school building, which is currently in the midst of a major construction project.

Congratulations to the DB-TC Class of 2020!
