Laurium police catch cat thief

LAURIUM — At approximately 4:16 a.m. this morning, Laurium police were dispatched to a residence in Laurium for a home invasion. The caller reported a person had broken into his residence. The caller reported he woke up to find the suspect had a gun pointed at his head and was demanding he give him two cats that were at the home. The suspect took one of the cats and left the home.

The suspect was located a short time later. The suspect was arrested for home invasion and felonious assault. The suspect was lodged at the Houghton County Jail. A report was sent to the Houghton County Prosecutors Office.

Laurium Police were assisted by the Keweenaw County Sheriffs Department, Houghton County Sheriffs Department, and the Hancock Police Department.

The incident is still under investigation.
