Finlandia hosting #CrushCOVIDWeek

HANCOCK — Finlandia University will be hosting #CrushCOVIDWeek on campus from April 5 through April 9 in the hopes of getting more students, faculty, and staff signed up for COVID-19 vaccinations.

“The first week in April marks the beginning of vaccine eligibility for many of our traditional students, something many of them have been looking forward to for months,” said Dean of Students Erin Barnett. “After such a challenging academic year, we want to celebrate this milestone and also raise awareness on the safety and importance of the vaccine. Our nursing students will also have a vaccine myth-busting booth at all events.”

Events will focus on education about the vaccine as well as provide students with an opportunity to celebrate the vaccine rollout to all eligible adults. The week culminates in a vaccine clinic for students and car smash sponsored by Ed’s Salvage on Friday. 100 Johnson & Johnson one-dose vaccines will be available and administered by Finlandia nursing students. An appointment is required and additional clinics are being planned for the future. Upper Great Lakes is sending text messages to all students with information on how to sign up for a COVID-19 vaccine.
