Mohawk-Fulton 4th of July celebration

Press release The Mohawk-Fulton Fourth of July Family Celebration’s Kiddie Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Mohawk Park. Each child and senior citizen receives a free lunch (sloppy joe/hot dog, chips, pop and ice cream). Our group prepares 300 goodie bags for our communities’ kids. Driver identified in Porvoo Park incident

HANCOCK — The driver in a Friday night inci- dent that damaged the boardwalk at Porvoo Park has come forward. Hancock police cited the driver, an adult male, for failing to report a property damage accident, said Officer Nanue Houle. About 10:40 p.m. Friday night, when the man drove over the grass and onto the boardwalk at Porvoo Park. As he attempted to turn around, breaking pieces of the boardwalk and damaging the railing, Hancock police said. Lumberjack Days returning to Baraga

The 2024 Baraga County Lumberjack Days will be returning Wednesday and Thursday. The fun-filled schedule includes a street dance, pancake breakfast, children’s parade, games and a bean bag tournament. Tickets for a 50/50 raffle will be sold for $5 each, and bean bag tournament rules can be found at baragalumberjackdays.com.  The annual Lumberjack Days began in 1969, when a group of citizens organized to form a Centennial Celebration for Baraga Township. EAGLE Harbor — The annual Keweenaw County Public Safety Day, which took place Saturday, added a new element to the festivities. This year, the day began with a 5K run/walk, Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds. The race was put on by Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds, in conjunction with the Keweenaw County Sheriff Department and Keweenaw Community Foundation. Shine the Light 4 Healthy Minds was a fundraiser for KS4M.
