When finding aid for college, scholarships are important because scholarships are considered gift aid, meaning students do not have to pay them back. However, sometimes the competition for scholarships is tough and students need to know how to stand out amongst the applicants.

Join TRIO Pre-College Programs for a free, hands on workshop entitled $uccessful $cholarships on Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 6 p.m. at the Portage Lake District Library. This session, open to all students in grades 9-12, will teach how to search for scholarships, common scholarship requirements and the tips and tricks to writing a successful essay.

Students are encouraged to bring a laptop if able. If not, Portage Lake District Library will have Chrome Books available to use.
