Thanks to everyone in the Keweenaw

To the editor:

The Keweenaw is an unbelievable place in the world. Beauty, outdoor activities, the great Lake Superior and more. But the most unbelievable is the caring community. This last weekend a benefit was held for one of our own that is in need. Clint Dube, from Allouez, is in need of a kidney transplant. The benefit was held at the Glacia Tavern in Mohawk, thanks to the owners Sara and Luke providing the space.

A huge crowd attended and donated to this cause, truly inspiring, given that money does not grown on trees here.

In addition to a bake sale and silent auction there was a raffle of donated items by many local businesses and individuals. We would sincerely like to acknowledge their generosity. BIG thank you’s to- Glacia Tavern, Scott Laurie, Ahmeek Fire Department, Carmelita’s, Slims, Luigi’s, Salon 1281, Mariner North, Mel’s Mutts & Cuts, Peninsula Auto Repair, Penache, Cliffview Bar & Cabins, Drivethru Depot, Keweenaw Castle, Michigan Tech, Portage Heath, Mickey Finn, Jam Lady, Hooked Up Charter Fishing, Adria Hohly, Gay Bar, Jodi Poshak, Peterlin Distributing, Ron Racine, Koppers, Connies Bakery, Toni’s Country Kitchen, Gasoline Alley, Drift Inn, Helping Hands, We Care, Art Hill, Lee Gustafson, The Corkery, L and L Bar, Econo Foods, Mohawk Superette, Pat’s IGA, UPPCO, Louie’s Fresh, The Hut, Lake Lounge, McDonalds, Annie King, Heidi Lear, Rena Lempea, Bucko’s Party Store, Jeremy Rowe, Calumet Class of 1989, Harter’s Party Store, Harter’s Carquest, Northern Cuts, Dollar Bay Linoleum, Jen Witting, Lindell’s, Mona Englund, Eagle Harbor Inn, DJ’s Grill, Fitzgerald’s, Clare Loveless, Ace Hardware, Gary & June Schraufnagel, Kate Langdon, Susie Tanner, Red Jacket Boutique, Roberta Rosenburger, Roxanne Billing, Jeanette Racine, Keweenaw Photography, Keweenaw Co-op, Kari Chevalier, Out of the Norm Tattoos, Michigan House, Renee Tuoriniemi, Ziemnick Excavating, Jim Dube, Jamie LaBonte, Michigan Tech Hockey, Andrea DiVinci, Great Lakes Mutual Insurance, Radio Stations 102.3/97.7. We hope we covered everyone, if we missed anyone a big thank you to you. Including many out of town snowmobilers that just gave money out of their wallet while passing through.

A very touching event.
