Answer the door

To the editor:

Revelation 3:20

“Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

Have you ever wanted to get a hold of someone really badly? You call the house and no one answers, so you get in the car and go over to their house. You stand at the door and knock. No one answers. You keep knocking, louder and louder. Still no one answers.

What would you do next? You would call their name. “Rachel!” “Rachel!” “Are you there?” “Let me in!”

This is the heart of Jesus. “Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you HEAR MY VOICE and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.”

The thing is, Jesus will not knock forever. By the time He calls out, He is just about ready to walk away. He will say, I have knocked and knocked and even called your name, but you ignored Me. There is a point when Jesus will go on to another house.

You don’t want to be found at your house once Jesus has left. The door will be locked.

Luke 13:25

“When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door!’ But He will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.'”

Friends, if you hear a knock, answer the door! There are millions of doors in this world with no one knocking. Do you want that to be you?
