Calumet’s Farmer joins River Dragons

COLUMBUS, Georgia — In their inaugural season, the Columbus River Dragons of the Federal Prospects Hockey League have added a local skater to their roster as they look to make a push up the Western Division of the league.

The River Dragons recently added Calumet native Dylan Farmer to their ranks as a defenseman.

Farmer, who played three seasons with the Finlandia Lions, has already seen action in two games this season, a 3-2 loss to the Port Huron Prowlers on Friday and a 3-0 loss to the Prowlers on Saturday.

Farmer joins another former Lions forward Tim Santopaolo, who played one year in Blue and White before transferring to Aurora for the final three years of his college career. Another current teammate has local ties as well. Former Michigan Tech recruit Jagger Williamson recently joined the team and has played in one game thus far.

Farmer played one game last season for the Danville Dashers of the FPHL last season.

The River Dragons are 5-9-0-1 this season, good for fourth place in the Western Division with 18 points. They trail the Prowlers by seven points for third in the division thanks, in part, to a recent four-game losing streak.

The FPHL is “committed to providing quality family entertainment at affordable prices in some of the most exciting new and established hockey markets in North America.” The league is “also dedicated to the growth of professional hockey at the Class A level and creating a developmental ground not only for elite hockey players, but coaches and front office staff as well.”

The league has promoted over 500 players to a multitude of leagues, such as the AHL, the ECHL, and European leagues.

Starting at $4.00/week.
