Jurusik named to All-WCHA Third Team

HOUGHTON — Michigan Tech senior goaltender Matt Jurusik was named to the All-WCHA Third Team, the conference announced Monday.

Jurusik’s .924 save percentage, 2.06 goals-against average and 19 wins all ranked third in the conference this season. His wins total this season was also ninth in the country. His 2,702 career saves rank ninth in the country.

Jurusik earned two WCHA Goaltender of the Week accolades, including the opening week of the season in October and March 9 following the Huskies’ first-round sweep of Northern Michigan. Jurusik had 77 saves against the Wildcats. He had a career-high 43 saves in Game 2, a 4-3 triple-overtime win.

Jurusik, who started 33 games this season, played the last 69:08 of his career without giving up a goal.

Jurusik was the only Husky to receive All-WCHA honors.

The WCHA First Team included Minnesota State’s Marc Michaelis, Connor Mackey, Dryden McKay, Bemidji State’s Adam Brady, Alaska’s Steven Jandric and Bowling Green’s Alec Rauhauser.

The WCHA Second Team included Northern Michigan’s Griffin Loughran and Philip Beaulieu, Minnesota State’s Parker Tuomie, Lake Superior State’s Max Humitz, Bemidji State’s Tommy Muck and Zach Driscoll.

Along with Jurusik, the WCHA Third Team included Bowling Green’s Connor Ford, Bemidji State’s Owen Sillinger and Elias Rosen, Northern Michigan’s Darien Craighead and Minnesota State’s Ian Scheid.

The WCHA All-Rookie Team included Minnesota State’s Lucas Sowder and Nathan Smith, Lake Superior State’s Louis Boudon, Bemidji State’s Elias Rosen, Ferris State’s Jake Willets and Northern Michigan’s John Hawthorne.

ALSO: The WCHA All-Academic teams included 20 Huskies. The players included junior Robbie Beydoun, sophomore Trenton Bliss, senior Raymond Brice, sophomore Alec Broetzman, sophomore Tyrell Buckley, junior Seamus Donohue, sophomore Eric Gotz, sophomore Brian Halonen, senior Todd Kiilunen, junior Mitch Meek, junior Justin Misiak, sophomore Zach Noble, sophomore Tommy Parrottino, sophomore TJ Polglaze, junior Greyson Reitmeier, junior Tyler Rockwell, junior Marcus Russell, senior Alex Smith, sophomore Colin Swoyer and junior Cooper Watson.
