Gonzales, Wade commit to Finlandia baseball team

HANCOCK — Miguel Gonzales (Middleton, Wis.) and Jacob Wade (Southaven, Ms.) committed to play for the Finlandia University baseball team.

Gonzales and Wade joins Jake Black (Palmdale, Calif.), Brayden Blain (Odessa, Texas), Jordan D’Angelo (West Bend, Wis.), Jacob Godoshian (Washington, Mich.), Peter Ordonio (Lincoln, Calif.) and Ethan Spain (Decatur, Ill.) in the 2021 recruiting class.

“Miguel is an infielder with an old school approach. He is constantly grinding and in the gym,” Finlandia head coach Evan Brandt said. “Miguel will be a huge part of our program moving forward and will be a guy we rely on to be tough and gritty. He can grow as a hitter and infielder very quickly here because of his work ethic and good base for fundamentals. I am extremely excited to add Miguel to our infield and excited to see him push the other guys around him to be better.”

Brandt said he’s also excited to add Wade to the team.

“I am glad to add Jacob to our freshman class. He will provide great instincts and leadership on our infield,” Brandt said. “Defensively, Jacob has a great glove and a very rangy mindset. His ability to keep the ball on the infield and make the routine plays is something that will allow him to excel at Finlandia. At the plate, Jacob shows the ability to hit for average and put pressure on defenses. He has good pop in the bat and I am excited to see him swing it at the college level. Jacob will be a great infielder for the future of this program.”
