Tech hockey series vs. LSSU postponed

Positive virus results surface within LSSU program; Huskies face NMU Saturday, Monday

Michigan Tech’s hockey series against Lake Superior State was postponed at the last minute.

The decision was announced by Tech via tweet at 5:19 p.m. Friday, less than two hours before scheduled faceoff against the Lakers. Tech said in a release the postponement was due to “COVID-19 testing results within the LSSU hockey program.” It neither specified how many results were positive nor identified whether they were players or coaches.

At 10 a.m. Friday, MTU announced Friday’s scheduled game against LSSU was postponed an hour from a 6:07 p.m. start to allow “more time for COVID-19 test results within the Lakers’ program.”

Within the same announcement, the Huskies said they will face rival Northern Michigan this weekend. Tech hosts the Wildcats at 4:07 p.m. Saturday and visit NMU at 5:07 p.m. Monday.

It’s the second straight week Tech’s schedule was disrupted by positive virus tests. Positive test results in the Huskies’ program postponed last weekend’s series at Minnesota State.
