Klein, Wagner named LL-Hubbell’s top athletes at annual banquet

LAKE LINDEN — Caleb Klein and Melissa Wagner received Lake Linden-Hubbell’s Outstanding Male and Female Athlete Awards.
The two were named recipients of the awards after posting strong and consistent performances across multiple sports.
Wagner, who played in volleyball, basketball, track and field and softball, earned nine varsity letters through high school. She was named Second Team All Copper Mountain Conference in volleyball in 2019 and was a First Team selection in 2020.
She was an All-State and MHSAA champion in the 1600 relay, helping the Lakes to a third straight UP track championship in 2019. Wagner, daughter of Rebecca and Nicholas Wagner, is enrolling in the Army Reserves.
Klein earned 12 varsity letters during his high school career while playing football, hockey, baseball and track and field. He was named an All-West PAC running back in 2019 and was All-U.P. in 2020. He was a 2019 Copper Mountain Sprinter of the Year in track and an All-State and MHSAA champion in the 400 and 800 relays.
He was also All-State in the 100 dash, helping the Lakes to a runner-up finish at the U.P. Finals.
Klein is the Class of 2021 valedictorian and plans to attend Michigan Tech and major in biomedical engineering. He’s the son of Melissa and Jeff Klein.
