Hancock Bottling Company earns big win over Copper World

WOLVERINE — On the strength of an eight-run fifth inning, Hancock Bottling Company earned a 17-4 victory over Copper World last week at Wolverine Field.

Hancock scored five runs in the top of the first to get started quickly.

Hudson Markham, Rylan Isaacson, Cody Turner, Eli Heathman and Mason Loukus all reached and later scored in the first inning.

After giving up two runs in the bottom of the first, Hancock responded with four more runs in the second. Isaacson got things started with a walk. Brogan Turner followed up with a single. Heathman later singled and Loukus reached on an error. All four scored.

Copper World picked up two more runs in the bottom of the fourth to make it 9-4 in favor in Hancock.

In the top of the fifth, Hancock got off to a quick start when Loukus reached on an error. Beaudan Haataja walked. Avery Marcotte reached on an error. After Isaac Hiner struck out, Markham and Isaacson both walked. Turner, Heathman, and Loukus all reached as well. All eight scored, sealing the victory.

Hancock Bottling improved to 3-1 on the season and will face the Calumet Lions Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Wolverine Field.
