Little League recap: Scores from local action

HOUGHTON — Here is a rundown of recent local Little League action.

June 10

KBear 9, Mohawk Technologies 6

Toby Johnson and Owen Peterson each scored twice with two RBI apiece for KBear. Max Harju also scored twice. Tanner Pennala hit a RBI triple for MT, and Easton Abramson had a RBI double.

Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home 5, American Legion Post-61 3

Owen Loukus batted 2 for 2 for ECPFH. Lukas Axford tripled for ALP 61.

June 9

American Legion Post-61 14, KBear 11

Brady Axford and Brad Davis both scored three times each for ALP 61. Kayden Davidson pitched five innings and allowed two runs for KBear.

June 8

Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home 16, Mohawk Technologies 1

Levi McDonald went 3 for 3 for ECPFH and scored three times. Dylan Hyrkas had two hits. Cole Kero scored MT’s lone run.

KBear 12, American Legion Post-61 11

Owen Peterson hit a two-run home run for a walk-off win. He hit a grand slam earlier in the game. Kayden Davidson hit a two-run home run for KBear, and scored three runs. Izaak Englund hit a solo home run for KBear. Henry Johnson struck out six in a complete game for KBear. Brady Axford scored twice, while Lukas Axford and Brad Davis each scored three times.

June 3

Tervo Agency 5, J. Peltier Construction 3

Tervo broke the tie by scoring three in the top of the fifth. Pierce Johnson threw 4 2/3 innings with seven strikeouts for Tervo and was helped by two centerfield catches by Chad Halonen. Isaac Wanhala led J. Peltier with two singles. Bryton Bergstrom singled and scored in the fifth.

Houghton Building Supply 12, Superior National Bank 2

With Benny Keranen on the mound, SNB was held scoreless for the first five innings. Casey Hiller, Gunnar Gullstrand and Benny Keranen had triples for HBS.

June 2

Range Bank 20, Pat’s Foods 0

Rowan Randell and Micah Isaacson combined for Range Bank’s win helped by error-free defense. Damien Juopperi, Ethan Lasanen and Micah Isaacson led Range Bank with two hits apiece. Dawson Reili singled twice for Pat’s Foods.

Frank A. Douglass Agency 4, UP Audiology 3

Jillian Isaacson was the winning pitcher. Tally Storm and Sylvia Allen also pitched for Frank. A. Douglass Agency. They combined for 10 strikeouts. Svea Johnson had two unassisted defensive outs at first base. Kayla Aho scored the winning run on a single by Kenna Rajala.

June 1

Mohawk Technologies 16, American Legion Post-61 12

For MT, Cole Kero and Ryan Rajala both batted 3 for 3. Jax Carlson hit a two-run home run.

Erickson Crowley Peterson Funeral Home 19, KBear 12

Oscar Loukus led ECPFH with a 3 for 3 night, including two triples and a home run. Max Harju was 2 for 3 with a double and three RBI for KBear. Josh Asiala hit a two RBI-double and scored a run. Kayden Davidson was 2 for 3 with an RBI and run scored.

May 31

Rajala’s Kitchen 23, Pat’s Foods 9

Kalen Williams batted 3 for 3 with three runs scored. Emmit Hainault and Hayden Matteson both scored four runs. Cole Ceane scored three runs.

May 29

J. Peltier Construction 11, Superior National Bank 7

Isaac Wanhala, Luccianno Paoli, and Chase Keranen combined for the win. Wanhala struck out five and surrendered a run in 2 1/3 innings. Keranen closed out the game with four strikeouts while giving up zero runs.

Nolan Hanner batted 4 for 4 with a pair of doubles and a triple, scoring twice.

Rajala’s Kitchen 14, Range Bank 6

Rylan Larson batted 2 for 2 with a pair of doubles. Tash Helminen went 3 for 3 with three doubles.

Houghton Building Supply 2, Superior Service 1

HBS’ Benny Keranen and Superior Service’s Brody Donnelly squared off in a pitcher’s duel. HBS’ Davis Moyle and Gunnar Gullstrand scored both of HBS’ runs. Brycyn Nettel scored for Superior Service.

May 27

Houghton Building Supply 13, J. Peltier Construction 3

Terrence Nolan and Syliva Aho each turned an unassisted double play and every player scored a run in HBS’ win.

Calumet Lions 4, Coca-Cola 3

Brayden Cima threw a seven-inning complete game with 10 strikeouts.

Eli Heathman, Mason Loukus and Rylan Isaacson pitched for Coca-Cola, combining for 13 strikeouts and three walks. Hudson Markham batted 4 for 4 and Brogan Turner had an RBI.
