Crush 10U falls in Tomahawk final

The 10U Copper Country Crush/Keweenaw Chevrolet girls fastpitch softball team had a successful tournament recently in Tomahawk, Wisconsin.

The Crush won four consecutive games before losing a heartbreaking, extra-inning championship game to Oshkosh, Wisconsin.

In the final game, the Crush battled back from a 4-0 first inning deficit. Annika Schlief tied the game 4-4 with a two out single in the top half of the final inning.

In the bottom half of the final inning centerfielder Paige Nettel threw out the potential winning run at home place to catcher Romi Koskela.

The Crush lost the game in the extra session.

Strong pitching from Lucy Biekkola and Payton Goldsworthy paced the Crush.

The Crush visits Merrill, Wisconsin, for their next tournament July 23-25.
