GLIAC — For the first time this season and the third time in her Husky career, junior guard Ellie Mackay (Novi, Michigan) has been named Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division Player, announced on Monday (Jan. 10).

Mackay scored a career-high 36 points and shot 14-for-21 Thursday night in a win over Wisconsin Parkside. Mackay came up one point shy of the Tech program record for points in a game. She made 5 of 8 3-pointers and added six rebounds and two steals.

Mackay leads the Huskies with 17.9 points per game, which ranks third in the conference. She is shooting 45-percent from the floor and 36-percent from beyond the arc. She has four games with 20 or more points and has crossed the 30 point mark twice in her career.

Last season, Mackay earned numerous accolades, including WBCA Division II Honorable Mention All-America, GLIAC Player of the Year, All-GLIAC First Team, and GLIAC Tournament Most Valuable Player. She has also been All-GLIAC Second Team (2020-21) and GLIAC Freshman of the Year (2018-19).

The Huskies (9-4, 4-1 GLIAC) play next on Thursday, January 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Wayne State. The team will be back at SDC Gymnasium on Thursday, January 20 at 5:30 p.m. when they host No. 16 ranked Grand Valley State.
