Michigan Tech’s Sayen receives USTFCCCA All-Region honors
Michigan Tech junior Clayton Sayen was named an NCAA Division II All-Region honoree.
The recognition was announced Wednesday by the US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Sayen, of Houghton, was a standout performer in the 800-meter and 1500-meter events. He qualified for the 1500 national finals and finished 11th.
Sayen was also named a Second Team All-American in the 1500 after completing the event at 3:51.64. He was the 12th Huskies men’s track and field athlete to compete in the NCAA national championships, and the first to compete in the 1500.
Sayen won the 1500 at the GLIAC Championships, and set a conference record time. He also ran cross country in the fall, winning the Roy Griak Invitational 8K in September.
